INDRAS GHOSH

I am an independent sustainability professional with ten years’ experience in private sector operations and sustainability. I bring substantial experience of working with companies and organisations throughout the Asia-Pacific and Europe.

In my previous role, I headed the sustainability department at the largest bilateral Chamber of Commerce in India, which is also the largest Chamber within the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK) network. In this capacity, I supported nearly 4,000 member companies in advancing responsible and sustainable business practices, with a particular emphasis on India-Germany-EU sustainable trade.

Working alongside partner organisations and companies, I have led a wide range of sustainability initiatives, funded projects, and advisory service. My work has included developing ESG strategies that embed human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) into business operations, advising on carbon emission reduction pathways, and strengthening corporate governance frameworks to align with international and local standards. I also engage on these topics as an expert speaker in conferences, industry roundtables, and sectoral committees, contributing to dialogue and policy discussions on responsible and sustainable business practices.

Of Indian–Indonesian heritage, my multicultural background has shaped my lifelong commitment to understanding local perspectives and the nuances of diverse cultural contexts. I apply this outlook when interpreting and addressing sustainability challenges in a global context.

Sustainability is most impactful when it is rooted in cultural context, inclusivity, and collaboration with local experts and communities. Strategies and solutions cannot simply be transferred; they must be co-created, respecting local knowledge whilst aligning with global standards.

My approach combines strategic insight with practical application, ensuring that strategies are practical for quick wins, ambitious with a purpose, and realistic for long-term impact. I am passionate about advancing Asia’s sustainability journey and bridging global frameworks with local realities. Do get in touch to explore how we might create lasting, meaningful change together.
